Clinical services at El Paso Animal Emergency and Veterinary Specialty Center have been, and will continue to be developed with a strong emphasis on advanced technology. El Paso Animal Emergency and Veterinary Specialty Center was one of the first to utilize digital radiology in the region, the first to bring CT services for animal use. Endoscopy, Ultrasonography, and in house lab capabilities are constantly upgraded, MRI will be available in the near future.

Having this option in our region will truly be the difference between life and death for many beloved furry family members with ultra complex cases requiring specialized care. It would improve the level of care across the entire region with local vets being able to not only refer complex issues when necessary, but also by having a specialist available to consult with when the need arises. This vision has progressed with the addition of a board certified Surgeon several years ago. Dermatology and Ophthalmology services are also available on a regular schedule. However, we are nowhere near the fulfillment of Dr. Koplos’ goal of and have decided that now is the time go all in on getting the key elements necessary for making this lifelong vision a reality!
With that being said we are actively seeking to add a full time Board Certified Internal Medicine Specialist, as well as a Neurologist, and an additional Surgeon! We are very excited and committed to this leap forward and will be doing our best to make this a reality in the very near future.
We wanted to share the vision and the commitment with you and hope you are as excited about the future as we are.! You can count on us for the continued compassion and commitment to excellence that has always been at the core of everything we do at El Paso Animal Emergency and Veterinary Specialty Center.
Dr. Tiffany Flores was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. She graduated from Irvin High School (1990), the University of Texas at El Paso (1995), and Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine (1999).Her father, a local physician, told wonderful stories of illnesses he treated and the amazing and interesting people he helped in his practice. He encouraged her to become a veterinarian when she was seven years old after she started dragging home injured bugs (and the occasional dead critter) to “heal” at home. She loves emergency medicine for the wonderful pets and families she meets, and the difficult medical puzzles that critical cases provide.
In her spare time, she enjoys tending to her “farm” of horses, chickens, dogs, fish, and “Steve”, the female bird. She also loves to cook, hike, read, garden, travel, and play piano. She shares the farm and her love of all things furry with her family; Rich, Sophie, and Sam.
Dr. Elizabeth Simpson
Dr. Elizabeth Simpson is a native of El Paso and has been an associate Veterinarian at the El Paso Animal Emergency and Veterinary Specialty Center since 2007, except for a brief hiatus. She developed her love of animals early in her childhood. She had several pets growing up and her grandmother had a small farm with ducks, chickens, roosters, rabbits, and dogs that nurtured her love of animals even more. She always knew she wanted to become a Veterinarian.
She graduated from Texas Woman’s University with a Bachelors of Science in Biology. She continued her education and received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and finished her senior clinical year at the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation, she moved to Portland Oregon where she was in general practice for two years. She then moved back to El Paso Texas to be with family and it was here that she was able to develop her interest and love of emergency medicine and critical care. She enjoys the diversity and challenging cases/patients seen on emergency. Seeking a lifestyle change for her family, she moved to Maui, Hawaii, for a brief period of time where she practiced general medicine and preventative care. Missing her family and love of emergency medicine she returned to her hometown of El Paso and feels proud and privileged to be back at the El Paso Animal Emergency and Specialty Center. She is especially excited to be able to incorporate and offer hyperbaric oxygen therapy in care and treatment of patients. She is happy to be in a hospital that is growing and able to offer new modalities and advanced care. When she is not busy at the hospital, she enjoys spending time with her husband, two daughters, 3 dogs and the newest furry addition a hamster named Friday. She also loves traveling, hiking, running, reading and baking.
Dr. Kari Clement
Dr. Kari Clement is a ninth generation El Pasoan and is very proud of her El Paso and Texas heritage. She graduated from Burges High School, completed her undergraduate degree in Animal Science at New Mexico State and attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in St. Kitts finishing her clinical year at Tufts in Boston. Dr. Clement has had a passion for animals since she was three years old which her parents so greatly encouraged. She started her journey in veterinary medicine as a technician for almost 8 years after high school starting in Southern California and continuing while finishing her undergraduate degree right here at the Animal Emergency Center of El Paso.
Dr. Clement spent her first year in practice in Las Cruces at a small animal general practice, but has always had a love for emergency and critical care and has a special interest in surgery. She has completed courses in orthopedic surgery with a focus in fracture repair and plating and cruciate surgery. She finds herself very humbled and privileged to be back practicing at the same state-of-the-art hospital that gave her such an amazing foundation from the beginning and to work side-by-side again, now as colleagues with some of her greatest mentors.
Dr. Clement finds incredible passion not only in helping her patients, but also bringing comfort, empathy and joy to their families and the community overall.
In her free time, Dr. Clement’s hobbies include gardening, playing the piano, hiking, playing tennis and golf and cooking. Most of her focus though is spending time with her husband and their very active toddler! And of course the family’s three fur-babies – two dogs Murphy and Gracie, and a cat named Monster.
