Dr. Elizabeth Simpson

Elizabeth Simpson, DVM

Dr. Elizabeth Simpson is a native of El Paso and has been an associate Veterinarian at the El Paso Animal Emergency and Veterinary Referral Center since 2007, except for a brief hiatus. She developed her love of animals early in her childhood. She had several pets growing up and her grandmother had a small farm with ducks, chickens, roosters, rabbits, and dogs that nurtured her love of animals even more. She always knew she wanted to become a Veterinarian.

She graduated from Texas Woman’s University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology. She continued her education and received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and finished her senior clinical year at the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation, she moved to Portland Oregon where she was in general practice for two years. She then moved back to El Paso Texas to be with family, and it was here that she was able to develop her interest and love of emergency medicine and critical care. She enjoys the diversity and challenging cases/patients seen on emergency. Seeking a lifestyle change for her family, she moved to Maui, Hawaii, for a brief period of time where she practiced general medicine and preventative care. Missing her family and love of emergency medicine she returned to her hometown of El Paso and feels proud and privileged to be back at the El Paso Animal Emergency and Veterinary Referral Center.

She is especially excited to be able to incorporate and offer hyperbaric oxygen therapy in care and treatment of patients. She is happy to be in a hospital that is growing and able to offer new modalities and advanced care. When she is not busy at the hospital, she enjoys spending time with her husband, two daughters, 3 dogs and the newest furry addition a hamster named Friday. She also loves traveling, hiking, running, reading and baking.
